What Do You Need to Know about Buying a Car You Can Uber in?

First, any new 4 door Toyota will be a perfect vehicle for you to Uber in and around Portland OR and Vancouver WA. However, there are further requirement depending on whether or not you would like to qualify for UberX, UberXL, or Select.

General Requirements to Uber around Portland:

• A vehicle that is 10 years old or newer
• 4 full, independently opening doors
• Good overall condition with no major cosmetic damage
• No commercial branding or signage on the car
• No rebuilt or salvage titles
• Finally, the vehicle needs to pass an inspection

For UberX, you also need to ensure you have 5 factory installed seats and seat belts, along with working windows and A/C. You also cannot modify the interior with aftermarket parts installed seats, seat belts, or BedRyder systems.

UberXL has the same requirements as UberX, but you need to have 7 factory installed seats and seat belts.

If you want to drive Select, your vehicle must be a 2013 or newer and selected by Uber.
